Here are some tips for being a successful human being who has a successful life:

1. Love People, Use Things. People who become “successful” and miss a successful life are those who love things and use people. Be sure to put people as a priority for your life.
2. Take time off. Life isn’t just about work. There is so much else to experience here in this life, and unfortunately, too little time to enjoy it.
3. Be a giver. Be someone who gives more than takes. Yes, we all have to take from time to time, but we should take only when we need to and give every time we have a chance to!
4. Be a life-long learner. I truly believe that we become better people as we learn. Take time throughout your life to grow and learn and become a better person.
5. Keep a sense of humor. People who laugh are a gift to the world. Don’t take yourself or your circumstances to seriously. Learn to look on the bright side and see the humor in situations.
6. Honor your commitments. This is a key to a successful life. We live this life based on commitments we make toward one another. Those who honor those commitments are those who will be respected and trusted by others.
7. Mentor someone. Always take the time to mentor someone. 

Here are my thoughts.  These are my- John's  tips.

1. Be kind.  And care for everyone as you would yourself.
2. As hard as one may work, play equally.  Life is all about balance and enjoying one's life recharges one's soul.
3. Give.  For the most part, everyone takes.  Just be mindful, that when one gives in a selfish world, one is met with suspect.  But, give and give some more.  Fuck 'em, if they don't get it, right?? You do.  
4. Grow.  We are all better at one's potential.  And getting better with age is definitely a choice.  'The more we know, the better we will do.'
5. Joy.  When one has joy they have peace, and with that you will undoubtedly find happiness.
6. Integrity. Honesty and living by a high compass will earn you respect and a seat at 'the' table- whatever that table may be.
7. Mentor.  Teaching someone and sharing what one learns is a trait passed down through the ages.  It's in essence the corner-stone of our society.  We learn, we pass it on, and so-on and so-on..  'we evolve.

Be mindful of an open heart...  without an open heart, the heart becomes blackened and with that, all hell will break loose as a result.
