RINALDI FOR NY-1
BE THE CHANGE
As a member of the East Hampton community since 1997, I have had the privilege to participate in many events that support Suffolk County and have proudly joined many organizations to support our local community.
Child Advocacy has been my primary focus since 1992. As a New York State 501(c)(3), incorporated in 1997 by Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & From LLP.
Through our advocacy, we address the many forms of abuse, be it mental, physical, or sexual; we look to the future health of our children; teach the importance of an education and fiscal responsibility.
We not just advocate, but celebrate our children so they may live their best lives imaginable.
We also address the trauma/PTSD associated with today’s most pressing/horrific events.
Like many New Yorkers, we too were sidelined post 9/11. We suffered the unimaginable heartbreak of the loss of a loved one, Graham Berkeley. Graham sadly was on flight 175 that hit the second World Trade Center tower.
We New Yorkers were overwhelmed with gratitude by all the outpouring of love and support from all corners of the world. It's that very love and support that got us through, and its the same love and support we vowed to repay.
Having been a career activist, we have had the privilege of working with many of our most prominent individuals. When Sandy Hook fell, we acted without hesitation with the sole mission to Honor the 26 lives senselessly taken, support the bereaved, and achieve responsible Gun Reform as we built a children’s center.
We also set our sights on:
reinstating the Assault Weapon Ban.
pass comprehensive background checks.
pass the lock-it-up law.
and pass a law to hold the gun owner responsible for any misuse.
As we pay-it-forward we not only repay the kindness, but we also protect our communities. By our extended experience/training of trauma and PTSD, our hope is to prevent further loss of life.
Sadly, we failed. Our conspiracists has derailed us briefly and the support needed was therefore not provided.
May we never forget their names and forever hold them dear.
We failed- not because of a lack of trying, we failed because an opportunist NYPD Sergeant used Sandy Hook as a means to make quota and club rank. Sergeant Kevin Blake fabricated reports, and manipulated a self proclaimed hyper-vigilant to derail our Newtown, CT sanctioned build, and sideline Sandy Hook parents, Newtown officials, several first responders and several corporate sponsors.
The very day the Sandy Hook Elementary School fell, we launched The Sandy Hook CenTer.
The Brady Campaign, est. 1973. Mayor's Against Illegal Guns (MAIG), est. 2006 Sandy Hook CenTer, est. 14 November, 2012. Mom's Demand, est. 2012. EVERYTOWN, est. 2013. March for Our Lives, set. 2018.
"According to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, EVERYTOWN was founded to match the National Rifle Association in political influence."
Following EVERYTOWN's lead, we seek to launch a more responsible gun club- the United States Gun & Rifle. (USG&R).
The NRA is sister to the U.K.'s 16th Century Gun Social Club. However, as mass-shootings became more and more prevalent in America, the gun manufactures were fearful of gun revenue. In the 90's, the NRA became more political, and started a conspiracy that the Government was set to take their guns. The NRA spread false information that the idea of being unable to carry a weapon of war somehow equated to losing one's civil liberties.
The USG&R will assure every citizen's rights are preserved, and not one person will be subject to violation. The USG&R will also restore the NRA to its initial purpose of being a social club that teaches safety in both form and storage.
While we prefer assisting like minded organizations, and stand proudly in support, we realize that as a result of our not going public immediately, we experienced some backlash and had become the subject of fear mongering conspiracists. While we are not unique in our harassment, we were most unsettled by the lack of support New York had provided to the families and yes us responders and organizations.
While our pursuit of justice has largely gone unsupported, and our cries unanswered, we decided to BE THE CHANGE. We are making our own justice and will fight for all the forgotten.
